Aqua Vitae Batch 2
A recreation by Off The Cuffe of a 700 year old recipe for Aqua Vitae. This recipe was created by Richard De Ledrede, the Bishop of Ossory, in Kilkenny circa 1324 and is the first written record of a grain distillate in Ireland. Aqua Vitae translates from Latin as “water of life” and was first intended as an internal and topical cure all. Believed to be the first form of whiskey and the precursor to Whiskey as we know it today. This herbaceous spirit drink can be described as “Christmas in a glass”. Although a fantastic straight drink, this spirit mixes brilliantly with others due to its high level of flavour and dry spicy finish.
