Following the fight for freedom from the Crown at the battle of Kinsale, 1601, seeking aid from allies in Spain, Red Hugh O Donnell, Earl of Tyrconnell, was murdered by an Anglo-Irish double agent & buried near Rioja.

Red Earl Irish Whiskey, a tribute to his story, is first aged in bourbon, then sherry and finally matured in Rioja casks. Triple-casking delivers roundness of flavour, lengthy finish & an exceptional aroma.

Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and then triple distilled in copper pot stills, Redbreast 12 boasts the flavour complexity and distinctive qualities of pot still whiskey. We are proud to partner with Clonakilty Distillery to bring you this exclusive release Single Cask Cognac finished Cask Strength whiskey bottled at 55.8% ABV which yielded 265 bottles. This is  a premium blend of 2008 malt and 2010 grain, originally aged in bourbon before spending 22 months in a cognac cask. We don't think this one will last too long!
