How have we changed?

A lot has changed at Irishmalts since the company was founded in 2018. We’ve welcomed new members to our team, outgrown our old workspace, and (most importantly) we have added countless new bottles to our shelves! Our old website simply could not keep up with this fast paced growth. Last year, we decided to reimagine Irishmalts. After a couple of months of hard work, we are delighted to announce the launch of our new Irishmalts website. We are confident that we’ve created a snazzy new site that is not only more user friendly but can truly showcase the best Whiskey and Spirits Ireland has to offer.

This new website was designed with you and the whiskey you love most in mind. We’ve made it easier for you to navigate our expanding catalogue. We’ve streamlined our checkout process for customers all over the world. We’re now proud to offer gift certificates and fresh brand exclusives. With the improved functionality, fresh design and varied product selection we think that the new Irishmalts provides a clear idea of who we are and why we love whiskey as much as you do!

#thenewIM is not only a social media tag. It is the new sustainability strategies we’ve implemented to make sure that our deliveries arrive in recyclable packaging. #thenewIM is the exclusive products we are acquiring! #thenewIM is your one stop shop for everything Irish Whiskey and Spirits.

What new products have we added (so far)?

We have sourced three exclusive whiskeys to mark the launch of the new Irishmalts.

Grace O’Malley 19 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey – Amarone Cask is aged for at least 18 years in American oak barrels before being transferred in Amarone Della Valpolicella barrels and refined for a period of eight months. The characteristically intense dark red fruit flavour of the Amarone imparts a delightful fruity richness to an already delectable whiskey. The casks have been hand selected by Grace O’Malley Master Blender, Paul Caris. This product is incredibly limited, and only 30 bottles are available in Ireland. Luckily, we have them all!

Tasting Notes:

Nose:  A complex range of flavours.  Rich intense red fruits, raspberry, blueberry with hints of spice and vanilla.

Palate: Good structure with perfectly balanced silkiness and Amarone sweetness.

Finish:  Intense, juicy and reminiscent of ripe red fruit.

The Portmagee Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is a single cask bottling of just 333 hand numbered bottles per cask. Portmagee Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is triple distilled from a mash bill of malted and unmalted barley before being finished in a hand finished Barbados Rum Cask for bottling, just one cask at a time. This exclusive bottle is not only sustainably produced,  but also features no chill filtering, no artificial colour and no added caramel. Could it get any better?

Nose: Warm evocative nose of Barbados Rum with notes of sweet marzipan, rich dark chocolate and coarse-cut old time Seville Orange Irish marmalade.

Palate: Luscious, creamy mouthfeel with a tingle of hot spicy pimento berries, root ginger, dark sugar, and toffee apple.

Finish: Warm all-spice and rich demerara sugar fades to coconut, toasted almond, and a throat soothing soothing finish of dark Barbados Rum.

The Pearse ‘Marriage of Malt’ Distillery Edition is the first bottling of a distillery exclusive at Pearse Lyons Distillery. This limited release of 888 bottles showcases both Pearse’s own whiskey and their dedication to the craft of working with the best barrels for optimal spirit maturation. It very much follows in the flavour footprints of the previously released 5-year single malt but with a new level of complexity. The use of rich PX Sherry casks in tandem with the inclusion of older sourced malt makes this a deliciously complex sipping whiskey. This whiskey was only available from the Pearse Lyons Gift Shop at the Distillery, until now!

Nose: Rich malt, zingy citrus with a crisp minerality, lemon biscuit, fleshy fruit, fresh shaved wood, dry spice, vanilla, sweet apricot, caramelised pear, candied fruit.

Palate: Rich, silky, maltiness, crisp fresh citrus, candied fruit, rich round toasted oak, vanilla custard.

Finish: Light pepperiness, warming clove spice, butterscotch, figs, candied apple, dates, stewed fruit with long lingering rich sweetness and spice.
