McConnell’s Cognac Cask Finish is the grand finale of the 5-Year-Old Series, embodying the most premium expression in this range. A blend of Irish Malt and Irish Grain Whisky, it is aged for five years in first-fill Bourbon casks before being finished in exceptional Cognac casks handpicked by Master Distiller Graeme Millar. This rare finish in Irish whisky reveals rich notes of candied lemons, dried pineapples, and a lingering ginger spice. The Cognac casks, specially selected by Millar, play a crucial role in shaping the whisky’s character. The oak enhances the interaction between the whisky and the cognac-infused staves, resulting in a delicate and floral flavor profile. Cognac itself is a French brandy crafted from distilled white wine and matured in oak barrels, celebrated for its smooth texture, rich flavors, and complex aromas.
