Connemara Original Peated Single Malt

Connemara Peated Single Malt stands out among Irish whiskeys with its Scottish-like smokiness. This style nearly disappeared in Ireland after the 19th century, when small distillers used any available fuel to dry malt. Legend says Cooley Distillery, founded in the late 1980s, unintentionally created a smoky whiskey by using peaty malt, resulting in a malty whiskey with Cooley’s honey and pear notes and a hint of smoke. Since its late 1990s release, Connemara has gained fans of peated Scotch whiskies like Laphroaig and Ardbeg, while maintaining its Irish character.

An aroma of sweet barley with wafts of peaty smoke, kippers and well baked apple crumble. Tastes of lightly honey sweet, subdued clean rather than sooty smoke with peaty vegetal notes, sweet barley water, light spice and vanilla oak.
