Killowen Dark Rum Peated Cask
Based on a time-honored Spanish method for blending sherry, this rum has been small-batch blended using the Solera method containing Bourbon, red wine and PX Sherry and finally aged for a year in an Ex Irish Peated Malt cask from The Great Northern Distillery. Every Bottle sold will donate £1 to the Joint Council for the Welfare of Imigrants’ Windrush Justice Fund.
NOSE: Strong notes dulse seaweed and mint leaf overcoming a treacle bread background. All the time accompanied by fresh lime zest.
PALATE: Sooty smoke note in the background with hard lime travel sweets to the fore, followed by lemon, to treacle, to lemons and back again. A healthy dose of coconut shavings before the finish, the oily fresh kind, not the dry kind.
FINISH: A sweet peaty smoke now with citrusy, tropical notes. The end is like trail mix – the ones with dry banana, coconut, and tarty apricot
